 Pyrite is a mineral composed mainly of iron disulfide (FeS2), marcasite and polymorph. Some varieties of the stone contain traces of cobalt, nickel, zinc, arsenic, gold, silver, selenium and thallium. This stone has a hardness between 6 and 6.5 on the Mohs scale, which proves its high resistance.

In general, it has a dodecahedral shape with many pentagonal faces called pyritohedra. But some specimens have a flattened and clustered appearance. As for its colour, Pyrite has a golden tone with metallic reflections.
